[s-type] Wiper replacement

Daft question. Does anyone know the procedure for removing wiper
blades mine only seem to come so far up them the arm stops it
coming the rest of the way to get the blade off ?–

Just did mine at the weekend - probably not the official method but
I snapped the plastic pivot insert on the old blades which then
makes it easy to unthread the blade off the arm. I then unclipped
the plastic insert off the new blade, threaded the insert and blade
on the arm seperately and clipped it back together when back on the
arm. Pretty fiddly but it works.–

It is the same as for any other wiper except that it is
disconcerting that the arms can’t be lifted far.

At the centre of the wiper blade ‘‘assembly’’ for the want of
a better word, there is the pivot and surrounding body that
slots into the U shaped end of the wiper arm. The body has
a safety clip that needs to be pressed to free the body.
With this pressed in, push the wiper towards the arm spindle
and it should slide out of the U bend but will not go much
further. Once free, gently manipulate the wiper so you can
disentangle it from the arm. The pivot block goes down and
away from the arm and then the wiper can be eased free.

Fitting the new one is the reverse of this process making
sure that the pivot block clips fully into place. This is
easier than removal as you can pull on the wiper without
having to press any clips. Take one of at a time, then you
can still see how the other is attached as it sometime hard
to visualise how the end of the arm has to go into the wiper
blade frame.

If you have not bought the wipers yet, the newer Bosch Aeros
without the metal frames are easier to fit than the
traditional ones. They look great too. Not sure about life
though as my annual mileage is low. the first set on the
Fiat Coupe is about 11 months and maybe 2000 miles old.
Still like new.

Hope this helps,
Neil.–
