S2 door lock barrel quest

Hi
Doors are apart and glass out. Not sure if this is correct but the two front doors have different locks in them and I don’t have any keys.
Any chance anyone has a S2 door lock barrel numbered 890 or 878 they would like to part with?
FYI, the lock number is stamped on the flat plate that comes out back of the lock like this- yes and on the lock barrel itself but you can see it here without dismantling it:

Failing that you could have one lock rekeyed to match the other. A doddle for any locksmith or some have done it themselves.

will look into that

If you have the lock barrel in your hand it’s very simple to rekey it, I’ve done it with house locks as well as E Type locks. All you have to do is to file off the protruding ‘nibs’ with the key inserted. Getting the lock barrel out of the item is the hardest part IMHO.

A few photos might help. The tumblers are just a friction fit. Pull them out, watch out for the small spring underneath, file as necessary to be lined up as stated above.

Just be careful not to lose the little springs.

great pic and tip, thanks

A reply to round this thread out. Took both barrels to the local locksmith. He says it is not uncommon for the ‘older cars’ to have different barrels each side- weird. $30 later and they are keyed the same.
