Safety switch/neutral switch

I have a very nice 1994 Xj 40 V-12 that have a very erratic start problem. The NS switch has crack at the end
and thus is difficult to set correctly. I have a 1996 switch which will not work ( different number of plug and wires)), than the 94.
Question : Has any one rebuilt an older switch?

Very difficult to drive a car when one cannot rely on starting the car.
I will consider selling the XJ 40 V 12 if I cannot remedy the problem. With fewer that 1400 of these car made I doubt a repalcement is in the offing.

Fletch,
You are on the wrong list. Your car has very few parts in common with the Series I, II, and III XJ6s and XJ12s discussed here. Your car is discussed on the XJ40 list.

…and I moved the topic as usual. Now in the correct section - how about hardwiring the switch and then if needed sourcing a replacement or trying to rebuild?
