[Saloon-lovers] 1967 420 Brakes

Hi guys, I’m getting ready to r&r the brakes on my 1967 420 and I
need some advice/info. What other Jag calipers and rotors will
interchange with my car. I’m especially interested with the rear
componants. Thanks in advance for everyone’s time, Andy–

I know the earlier 2 pot calipers from the 3.8S will fit the
front and I hear the later 4 pot calipers from the XJ will fit
the front. I don’t know anything about the rears. I think the
rears are less critical, most of your braking is on the
fronts.

Andy,

The 420 uprights have 3.5’’ caliper bolt spacing, the earlier S Type
or MK2 calipers are 3.0’’ and will not fit. The 420 front calipers
are the same as S1 XJ-6 through 9/72 with solid rotors, but the 420
rotors are unique to the 420. The 420 rear calipers are the same
as S1 XJ-6 and the rotors are the same as S1 XJ-6. The XJ 4 pot
calipers are for vented rotors and will not fit the 420 front
rotors.
