[Saloon-lovers] 6/9 identifier on Mark 1 or 2 boot?

I’m thoroughly unfamiliar with the Saloons, but while
watching an older movie (circa 1961), I saw a Mark 1 or 2
police car which had a chrome ‘‘6/9’’ marker at the lower
right of the boot. I don’t have the film on tape to review,
but I’m nearly certain that’s what the badge was, though it
looked OEM.

What is the significance of this marker, and might it help
identify the car as being a Mark 1 vs. Mark 2?

For UK plate enthusiasts, the plates on the car were ‘‘SGX
909’’, though I’ve no idea if they were studio plates, or if
it was a real borrowed police car.–

Maybe it was a Wolseley 6/9, Wolseleys were widely used by London Ploice at
that time
