[Saloon-lovers] 63mk2-length of lower&upper steering column latetype with C/V

I am still trying to sort out the steering linkage on my 63 LHD
mk2. What was a factory power steering car is now a non power
steering set-up. Steering box, idler assembly, center-link have all
been changed.
I want to replace the lower steering column that has the rubber
Metalastic connection with the later style with the C/V joint and
nylon rollers. It appears that in order to use the late style lower
column that I have I will need a late style upper inner column as
the late lower column is about 2 inches shorter than the early
lower column. Or have a piece welded into my late style shaft.
OK, having said all that what I would like is for someone with
the late style lower steering column to measure it so I can
positively ID my later style shaft.
The two lower steering shafts I have now are, early=16 1/2 inch
and late=14 inch. Can someone cofirm the 14 inch for the later
style lower steering column with the C/V joint?
Thanks in advance, Pete Sellers–
