[Saloon-lovers] Advice?

Hi Listers
I hope this may be helpful to some
I have found that the heat riser duct that goes from the exhaust
manifold to the air cleaner on older North American cars is a perfect
replacement for the “cloth” tube that connects the heater to the
demister vents on Mk2’s. It is all metal and flexable, and built to
withstand the conditions in an engine compartment. Should do the job
well and it is very cheap.

BTW: Does anyone know the source for a new diaphram for the heater
control valve?
Thank you
ian

I also found out an interesting fact when replacing the old cloth ducting
that is used in the Mark 2’s. I ordered from XK’s the replacement and what I
received was a little smaller, and made of vinyl. Did not fit over the heater
and demistrer outlets but did fit INSIDE these pieces. Works just fine, and
now that I have seen it, I know it is a locally available part in auto parts
stores. Go to the heater duct section.
Hope this is of some benefit.
