[Saloon-lovers] Battery(ies) For Mark VII

I have noticed that the battery installations on most of the Mark
VII through Mark IX Jaguars look awkward or have obvious fabricated
brackets. I was looking my car over today, just marveling at my
purchase and the remarkable lack of ‘‘buyer’s remorse’’ experienced.
I pondered the battery situation and imagined that the car should
have two six volt batteries mounted there in series.
I found one application for a Mark IX in my collection of pictures:

Being a design for American consumption in 1951, it seems the more
common twin six volts would be appropriate since 12 volts did not
become popular in the US until 1953 and completely phased in by
1955.
I get kind of fussy about originality at times and this one is not
hard to comply with. If it is the way they came I would do it. Any
thoughts?

G’day Bernie

Yes twin 6 volts in serees is the go for VIIs, VIIIs and IXs. After
22 years of the twin batteries and advances in battery technology
I’ve fitted a 13 plate single 12 volter with 550 Continuous
Cranking Amps. This is heaps more than the old twins and spins
Rupert’s motor over at twice the speed of even 2 new 6 V jobs. It
may not be original but practicality is more important espcially
now I have air con fitted.

By the way you URL reference does not open
