Although opinions will vary, I don’t believe it’s cost effective to use
synthetic oil in an old engine like an XK which needs oil changes every
3,000 miles or so.

I live in CA, and I have never used synthetic oil in any of my Jaguars. I
use conventional brand name 20W50.
