[Saloon-lovers] Front and rear door alignment 1961 Mk2

Hi, I have recently aquired this Mk2, it has been restored over a
period of time and I cannot contact the previous owner/restorer.
The problem is with door algnment. The car has had a comple rebuild
and respray. New seals etc. LHS front door needs alingment badly,
the rear bottom corner sticks out half an inch and the door needs
to be lifted at the rear as the chrome stip is not aligned. Rear
LHS not so bad but this door also needs to be lifted at the rear a
little. Anybody have experiance with this? Thanks–

Roger, the adjustment is in the hinges.
The front door is relatively easy, as the higes are bolted through
the leading edge into a captive plate behind. Loosen the three
bolts enough to move the door in or out and tighten when you have
the correct alignment. Suggest do one hinge at a time. For up and
down movement, you may have to add or remove a shim(s) under one of
the hinges.
The rear door is a little different. the bottom hinge is similsr to
the front, but the top hinge is only accessable with the door card
removed, and there are large phillips head screws holding it.
If you find you now have the doors aligned, but the window frames
are tight or loose, they are screwed into the top of the door
frame, under the wood trim, with shims for vertical adjustment, and
bolted to the inside of the door for lateral adjustment of the top
of the frame, door card removal necessary for access to these bolts.
Process is fiddly, but fairly simple.
