[Saloon-lovers] It's moving again!

I uploaded a few pics from the first test drive after the engine and brakes work

don, the man at custom transportation who’s doing my car, reports that the
engine is now working very well, still needs a bit of fine tuning, but it’s
basically done. the shifter seems a bit sloppy, so it may need some rebushing,
but the gearbox works fine… no mention of the overdrive yet…

all the trim is still off, since we’re waiting for a body guy to look at the car
and give me a quote, so I can decide whether to have the body and paint done
there, or just put it all back together, ship it and do that here in italy…

looks good but: was the leather replaced in that one seat? I guess
you had no choice based on the torn section shown in the picture.

yes the torn section has been replaced… but the upholstery guy re-did it in
VYNIL though!! Don has been chasing him without much success (sigh) for a couple
of weeks, but he bought some leather and will have it re-done with it… go
figure what that idiot was thinking…

the rest of the interior will be cleaned and treated as necessary, then we’ll
see if it needs re-dying too…

ciao!

vinyl is not that bad, it lasts three times as leather. May not
have the charisma or smell of leather, but it sure takes abuse. If
they did a decent job, leave it alone, don’t bother. Then when you
get the car to Italy, find a leather craftsman to redo the seats in
leather.
