Hi Listers:
Ya’ know, these cars we love and work on are difficult as it is WITH the
proper parts, but when your painter and your chrome shop LOOSE some original
items you entrusted to them, the job gets really ugly.
The chrome shop lost, one of four small fasteners which attach my reclining
seats,(three is not much help), and the body shop just informed me they
cannot find the accelerator rod assembly which WAS attached to the firewall
of the car when I took it to them.
Any one else having this much fun?
I didn’t even take the lowest bid !!!

I have a 1960 parts car with a 3.8 automatic. If the accelerator rod
assembly from that car would work for you I’d be happy to send it along.
Unless, of course, I have to remove the engine to extract it!

Tom: Many, many thanks for the offer. I still can’t believe they lost the
parts.
My car is #P2191412BW 1962 3.8 auto. If you will look on page 101, plate 23
of our Mark 2 spares catalog, I will list what I need. If it fits what you
have I will insist on paying for not just shipping, but your labor and parts
value.
Here goes: They lost ALL parts on that page beginning with #8 and going all
the way to part #32. I managed to find part #17, which somehow, I had removed.
I of course have the pedal #1,and related items through #7.
Your help and your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I don’t have a parts book for the Mark 2. You could fax the page to my
office at 907-586-5917. I’m heading to Seattle for 2 days, but I’ll be back
in Juneau on Friday. We’ll kick this around then.

OK, I got the fax. All those parts are present on my parts car. It looks
like a pain in the ass to get them out, though. Bummer. What’s your time
frame?

Tom: Reply #2:
I have two hopes left before I even ask you to proceed: The fellow who
“misplaced” them may be able to find the car he THINKS they were in when he
sold it !!!
Hope number two: Jaguar Heaven will look next week to see if they have the
parts out of a car.
I will keep you posted and again, thank you for all of the help.
