I agree with John Horner in that this is a normal condition when you add the
current draw of the fan. I believe this may have been previously discussed
as to the difference between types of meters. One being an amp meter and the
other being a voltage meter.

My Mark X does this exact thing when I flip the lights on and shows a charge
for a few minutes after initial start up. It’s when the gauge stay on the
discharge side that one has to worry and a thunk on the black voltage
regulator box has solved that problem for me in the past. A new regulator is
in my future as mine is worn and tired.

Thanks Gerard, but I think C.K. Schaffer’s prognosis is more
probable.

I’ve got the fan wired directly to the battery (as he supposed),
and the charge is not momentary, but constant.

For the rest, the ammeter seems to be working fine, showing a
slight discharge at idle with all electricals on (lights,
windshield wipers, etc.), and a progressive charge upon
acceleration.

Thanks to all who responded… I now know of six new problems that
I might have had and that I didn’t even know existed :-)–
