[Saloon-lovers] Mk 2 Water Temp

The average temp during day time in brunei is 33 degrees c. After
starting the Mk 2 engine and leave it running idle for 6 - 7
minutes, the water temp goes close to maximum in the gauge. There
is no sign of overheating. But I dont want to take chances driving
it while the temp is close to max. How can I check if the
indication is correct.

I think it will run cooler when you are driving it. You might
check the thermostat, it might not be opening all the way. Also,
your radiator might be dirty inside. You can run it comfortably at
95F.

Hi,

I check the temperatures with my laser thermometer. I would
check the top & bottom of the radiator as well as the front
and back of the block. That should give you a pretty good
indication of what the temp is.

I bought my laser thermometer at Sam’s club but I see them
many places.

Best,
