Gentlemen,
let me introduce myself, my name is Petter Jensen, I live in Norway, and I
am now the proud owner of a 1964, black 3.4 S, auto which I purchased for
far too much money according to digest discussions in California last
month! Anyway thats another story!
I say I am the owner…but since the car is in transit across the
Atlantic, I have not taken possession of my trophy yet!
Thanks to Stein and Ragnar, I was made aware of these pages and have been
following the discussions for some time.
As a quick intro, just two things :
- The tyres Stein inquired about were Cooper tyres (US made) having the
size 195 x 75 x15.
Does anyone have any experience with the make or the size. I am in the same
situation as Stein re. new tyres. - When the 3.4S was driven to the docks for shipping, the driver
encountered total brake failure! and had to use the handbrake to get to his
destination. This is the following scenario.
Before shipping car was checked over by Jag mechanic, all OK, brakes worked
to begin with, but failed after 15 mins.No sighs of fluid leak, no drips,
just a dead pedal (which if pumped like made made some attempt to brake,
but… Next day mechanic comes and looks at car, brakes OK again!!!
To me this could sound like either a caliper is stuck causing the fluid to
overheat and therefore fail, or the master cylinder glitched! both scary
I would welcome any input, feedback or other members experiences on this as
I now have 4-5 weeks in which to try and source any parts I may need to
rectify situation.
Thanks and keep the digest going!
Regards from Classic Porsche 912 man, now with family needing new class
wheels 3.4S !
