[Saloon-lovers] Re: horn push attachments

The chrome horn ring on my '61 Mk 2 broke several years ago but I was able to
mend it with epoxy since it cracked under the elongated center and was not
visible. I
recently acquired a horn ring and center with motif but it is a little
different.
On my old one the elongated center with motif is held to the chrome by a clasp
type clip on each end that clasps the chrome center piece. On the new one the
elongated center piece has a peg near each end that protrudes into matching
holes
on the chrome center of the horn ring. However there is nothing to hold the
pegs
so the elongated center is loose. Is there some type of bushing or clip for
those
two pegs to make them stable? I would like to use the new one because the
chrome
ring seems stouter and I’ve been afraid to use the old horn ring knowing that
epoxy
repair will snap. Thanks for any advice.

Hello - - My fix was via the use of snaps which are typically used to secure
canvas on a boat. One half was bolted in place and then the second half was
epoxied in place. An exact fit was achieved by doing the two simultaneously
. It
works very nicely as you can see by the attached photo. I just popped the
push
off and used a couple of pieces of masking tape to hold it for the picture.
