Paul - Thanks for the notes on advance vs. overheating. It was not a sudden
problem, but a gradual increase to just over boiling, and nothing seemed to
change it. Several things did improve the situation - properly working
advance (I’ll find out how close to factory it is this weekend), a new 'stat
that opens at the right temp, not 10 degrees too low from the marked temp, a
properly blocked bypass pipe with an air bleed per previous advice, and now,
a flex fan with 3x the stock fan pitch. It’s definitely drivable in traffic
now, but much prefers 60 or higher MPH on the open road of course !
