What’s the preferred thermostat for the 4.2 series 1. Had a series 2 thermostat and that is not a good solution.
I got mine from SNG and it has worked flawlessly. Call and ask for Will or Tony and they will get you fixed up.

Either use the sng part. Or convert to a series 2 thermostat housing.

The SNG thermostat is as close as you will find. There are no perfect solutions.

Do the S1/2/3XJ6 thermostat housings fit the earlier manifold? If so, I have a few spares.

Post some photos of the XJ6 housings, I don’t have any of them available.
The S2 thermostat will be the best working solution, but you’d be adding a visual element to an engine bay many regard as art.
Soon as I find them, under the snow, I’ll get on that…
Hi, a few years back I found on Ebay a NOS thermostat in the original box with the correct Jag part number. This fall I changed the coolant and thought why not install the original thermostat…it does work better. Once opened, the bypass allows most of the coolant to pass through the radiator and I noticed that the cars temp doesn’t creep up so fast at rest. My 65 OTS is happy.
