Slinger or not?

I’m using a Payen non-Teflon front crank seal on my 3.8L rebuild. It’s a Payen NA422, which is a twin-lip seal.

The slinger seems to fit fine with the new internal O-ring distance piece. With a non-Teflon front seal, is there a reason to leave off the Slinger? Tia.

Lot of front seal discussion lately. I accidently installed original style rubber seal without slinger and it leaked. Teflon seal without slinger and no leaks. Use the slinger.
