Sod on reverse lights, S3

Hi

The lenses of my reverse lights has turned black as a result of 48 years of rich running.

New ones are not pricy, but I’ll like to keep the original ones.

Is there a trick to clean them without damaging the plastic?

Regards, Ole

Dishwasher, but don’t tell the wife. :grinning:

Thanks!

I think I’m safe as long as I don’t use it for engine parts

Ole

Remove the lenses and spray wire wheel cleaner on the outer surfaces, let sit, scrub lightly and rinse.

I’d be afraid the dishwashing detergent would be unfriendly to the silver paint around the inside perimeter of the lens.

Same problem, plus had same grime on license plate. Simple Green and carb cleaner took care of it, BUT it also cleaned the numbers off the license plate! I mean it removed the number paint . . Ha! Fortunately my wife is an artist, who painted them right back on same color and all.

Wheel cleaner!

Yes!

I also spray it on the license plate and stainless plinth, wipe and then rinse very well.
