Source for individual brake line

I am in need of a replacement brake line for my S2 FHC. It is the hard line connecting the front of the M/C to the rear of the servo cylinder. The local hose-and-tube shop says they don’t have the right fittings. The usuals only want to sell full sets. Does anybody know who might sell individual pre-formed brake lines?

Buy the correct fittings on E Bay or better still reuse the old ones.

They are standard UNF fittings; it seems odd to me that these aren’t available in the US.

Hose and tube shops are more likely to deal with hydraulic lines from tractors and such. If there’s a NAPA store near you go there and maybe you can buy the fittings. Personally I’ve re-used the old fittings and flared my own lines. I highly recommend the copper nickel line is it easy to flare and doesn’t kink when bent.

a place called Fed Hill might have fittings that work and look “almost” correct.

call Inline tube and see if they will sell individual lines?

In case you weren’t aware, that particular brake line is a larger bore than all the rest.

It’s 1/4" od line. It would be difficult to make it up but you could go to a car parts store with the old fittings and line and buy a precut 1/4 inch brake line with the same fittings, on each end that’s too long and cut it down. You’d have to have access to an appropriate flaring tool to finish the cut end. Problem is - this is a difficult tube to recreate particularly if you are using steel tubing. Can you advise if you have experience making brake lines?

Bob one of my Briitish sources suggests you contact these folk: http://www.stevsonmotors.co.uk/Stevson%20Motors%20-%20Homepage.html?LMCL=tT4udt

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I actually got the old line to seal up at it’s lower end. I’ll start a new thread: “proper repair or bodge?”
