Spanner for toolbox

Is this a xk120 spanner

Not XK120, but it looks like part C.1000 for Mark IV and SS saloons.

Ive just found another slightly different snail

Better late than never - I have been overseas in areas with minimal, if at all internet, and now back, gradually catching up…

This 1/2W SNAIL 3/8W spanner dates from late 1930s, and the two combination sizes are not SS Jaguar nor post-war Jaguar relevant… SNAIL was a huge company making all manner of tools, and a huge range of spanners, with only three size combination, Jaguar relevant, before you consider their age…

No…
The 7/16BSW1/2BSF combination size was only used on SNAIL spanners made during WW2 on specific requirement of the British Ministry of Supply that controlled all manufacture/supply of goods for Emergency War time use. Post WW2, SNAIL ceased this fully spelt out combination size format, and abbreviated it to 7/16W1/2F initially. These jaw sizes combination of 7/16W x 3/8W are indeed as per Jaguar Part No C.1000 spanner, but the C.1000 was only used in Mark IV (1945-49) and SS Jaguar (1938-40), and never in XK120, but age/markings of this one suits neither…

Thanks Roger ive given them to a “spanner collector”.Theyre in good hands!!!

Yes, Roger is the one to know!
