Speaker dimensions

So i have a 1995 xjs v12 2+2 convertible and need to change the speakers. I was wondering if anyone knows what the measurements are for both the front and rear ones. Thank you

Changing speakers – reading through this thread by Bob is a must:

Thanks @sbobev Steve!

Facelift cars will have larger speakers in front than mine. @Veekay and others will have good ideas. I think rear speakers convertibles are different as well, somebody here will know.

The stuff about soundstage, crossovers, amp set up, etc. applies no matter what.

Do a forum search using “speaker” in the title, posted by me.

I tried to share as much as I can with what I learn.

I currently have JBL Stadium 620 in the front.

Alpines in the back.

So how did that 6.5 fit just perfectly into that 5" hole?

The back of the speaker is smaller than the front. Again; you’re looking for the “cutout” dimension. That’s the size of the hole that the rear of the speaker needs to fit into.

Yes the magnet coil is much smaller than the cone. So basically bottom line is that the housing hole is exactly 5" and the factory speaker is 5.4" correct ?

Whatever my posts say. It’s been years…
