I have a 91 Sovereign with 30K miles. I just got it and I’m doing a little maintenance on it.
Everything worked fine, but recently the speedometer and tach lights stopped working. All other lights work perfectly, even the dimmer. Any suggestions? It sux driving at night and not being able to see my tach or speedometer.
I checked three fuse panels - Left footwell, Center armrest and Right footwell. All fuses were fine.
Vic - you will likely need to remove the instrument binnacle (info in the archives) and check the connecting cable to the circuit board on which the illuminating bulbs are mounted, along with the bulbs. Here’s a picture of the back side of the board inside the instrument binnacle showing the bulbs (in the twist-out holders).
The bulbs within the rectangle marked ‘White’ are the ones that illuminate the speedometer, tachometer, and other gauges (battery, fuel, oil pressure, and temp).
Years ago I replaced all the incandescent bulbs with LEDs, both white and colored per the above picture (again, info in the archives).
