Starter to solenoid cable gauge size '56 Mk 1

What is the correct cable gauge size from the starter to the solenoid? I’ve looked in the archives and found one post that references 4 gauge. I currently have a 24" long, 3/8" diameter cable. I need to install a 36" cable. Not sure if I should go with 2 gauge or 4 gauge.

I think you’re ok with the same gauge. The starter normally doesn’t run that long that you would build up much heat. The XK120 has the same gauge cable from the battery to the solenoid and must be about 6 feet long.
