Steering column removal. so close yet so far

Pull the wires from the horns and rig up a bulb in the mean time?

Have you found the horn switch wire? I think it’s purple if memory serves. It breaks out of the harness at the steering column and connects to a terminal on the outer column. If it shorts out against any grounded piece of metal, the horn relay is activated. Just find the wire and tape it off.

yes found wire that connects to copper terminal that attaches to outer tube assy there are 2 copper contacts do they both touch the inner shaft or should one contact the outer tube only? if so which one contacts inner shaft & which contacts outer?

Sorry, I haven’t looked closely at that assemble in many years. I just can’t recall the orientation. The one that has a roles copper tube is where the wire with cone pop in. That is the outermost contact.
