Hi all,
I have a 1968 420G where the steering tie/track rod rubber dust caps have disintegrated.
My question: should I get new rubber dust caps and if so does anyone know the size?
OR… can I ‘upgrade’ to the modern version with are one-piece and have no grease nipple? And if so, which one will fit?
Cheers
Paul
I would just replace the rubber , if the ball joints are ok !
loads on e-bay .

Thanks Ian, I take it these are the right size? And these are secured using zip ties, or… ?

tie rod ends are one item that isnt expensive on a 420G.
having said that, the new ones I fitted a few years back, the rubber doesnt seem to be
as good as the old ones, wont last as long.
worth at least trying good quality dust caps
That I cant tell you Paul , it says universal , if you scroll down the add there is diffrent sizes !

Ok, 15 top, 36 bottom. Got them at Euro Car Parts. Long story, but in the end I got them for free, but they cost little and are a doddle to fit.
But I have to say the ball joints underneath were in excellent condition, no play whatsoever. If there had been any play, I would have replaced with solid tie rod ends.
