I see there are two different thicknesses Insulators for the HD6 SU carbs .
6mm and 12 mm , at the moment my car has the 6mm Insulators on it , are there any advantages with the 12mm .
I would have thought the heat would be the same at the carb , if it was 6mm or 12mm ?
A couple of weeks ago at the local cruise night I saw a Datsun 240Z with the Japanese equivalent of SUs and I noticed he had the thicker insulators. We compared them with the 1/4" ones on my 120 and he thought his were better.
I would have thought the heat transfer through the studs and nuts would be about the same, but maybe not.
We might do better to try some insulating washers.
The 1/4" insulators certainly made a difference on my 120. It did not have them at all originally, and the carbs would get really hot and made it really hard to start, before I put them on.
