It may well be worth checking the back of the washers if they have been stamped with STD. or .004. The stamping raises the material slightly which can be flattened with 1200 wet & dry on a glass sheet. It may be worth a thou or two.
In this book it states 3 to 7 thou. That works better. I have 7.5 thou and if I fit one new washer I get 3.5 , so I can’t achieve 4 to 6 . I will go for 3.5 thou and will it bed in a little?
