Time for new tires

Back when we got the 140 in 2000 we bought a set of wheels & tires off Ebay (E-type spec wheels, as that’s what was on it at the time), with what looked like nice Pirelli P5s…

Here 17 years later it was still sporting the same tires, Still experiencing some shimmy/shake at speed, and one of the reasons I wasn’t driving it (and therefore having various other problems) was not trusting the tires.

Discovered locally Hendrix Wire Wheel, just 15 minutes from where I work, so wheels are going in today to be trued, balanced, new innner tubes and new tires.

No more excuses!

Sure was sad to leave in the garage like this though

Is that a independent rear end and disc brakes on front ? Serious work has been done on your 140 !!

Expect to be very happy, Hendrix does terrific work. I had them true and tune the 16" Daytons on my E-type, it now is smooth at any speed.

Correct on all counts.

Also e-type : 3.8, gauges, pedals, steering column, and (I think) rack

Wilwood front brakes
Terry’s Jag head rebuild incl larger valves, ported/polished, cams
Hayward and scott headers
5-speed
Uprated torsion bars, springs & swaybar
Probably more I’m forgetting

Major stuff done apparently in the 70s. We bought it in 2000

Have you watched this film which shows you all the best tyre options for an XK

I thought you might be interested to see what tyres Jaguar themselves have recently chosen to fit on their series 1 E-type. this is from the newest Octane magazine.
