Timing Chain Damper Rebuild Recommendations

Hello All –

I’m looking to rebuild the timing chain dampers on my '51 OTS and I’m wondering if anyone has done this before? Mine are grooved to about a depth of 1/8" on average caused by the chain sides. I see McMaster-Carr carries part# 8735K33 which might look like it’ll work. Of course, I’d have to cut, followed by milling and drilling to specs but it being of teflon, should be easy enough. Any thoughts here? The one thing that throws me is the durometer (hardness) rating of ~55. Would that be too soft or should I go with the acetal instead but which has a lower high temperature rating?

Thanks for any input.
