I’d recommend doing a close inspection of the new guides. One of the aftermarket upper guides I installed in my E-type engine was defective and snapped off after six thousand miles, reported here: Big job to fix. When I rebuilt my 120 engine I reused the originals, though they were in good shape with only about 20K miles on them.
