Tips of the week

Do replace flexible fuel hose with ethanol proof hose.

Unless already fitted, replace carb float needles with ethanol proof variety.

Do fit an inline cheap as you like fuel filter between tank and pump – change when you change the oil. The c**p that the 50p filter catches is astonishing.

That is all.

As you were.

You can get ethanol proof diaphragms too , for the SU carbs that need them !

Indeed - good tip.

I was reversing our car out one day last year - realised I had forgotten something in the house and wondered what the trail of petrol was along the drive - flexible hose had expanded to a soft sponge and split.

Ethanol is terrible!
Expensive to make in Europe and expensive, and environmentally bad to import from Brazil.
Less power and damages our cars!
Blo…y politicians across Europe!!

I am going to have a go at washing it out , have a few classic bikes , don’t do many miles , .

We’re fortunate being able to avoid ethanol. We still have three grades of fuel without it.

As Paul Breen says we have 3 grades of ulp in Australia as well as e10. I use 95 in my 250V8.
