Tire size for '69 OTS

Michelin XVS 185/80 VR15.
The best looking and performing tyres, but also the most expensive.

Jerry, that does sound significantly outside recommendations, 2 inches by George’s chart.

Really wide tires on narrow rims always remind me of Donald’s roadster:

my old Michelins reminded me of this

I ve used 225/60 P-Zeros on 6” S3 rims and it was as wide as would fit. Can’t imagine them on 5”

Fully agree to Peder.

I went from Vredestein to XVS and it is a major improvement. Mostly handling and quietness. But, agreed, they are alsmost triple more expensive, here in the Netherlands.

George, that’s what my car looks like except it’s green !
Obviously the Duck had it going on.
Ha.

So, from all of the above comments and suggestions, I gather that either the Vredestein or the Michelin 185/80’s are best choices for original specs, tubes from Michelin and rim bands from XKS Unlimited. I’ll check with a couple of nearby tire stores (Discount Tire, Big-O Tire) here in Longmont CO and see if they can source the tires for me and perhaps the tubes.
Thank you all for your very helpful replies.
Merry Christmas.

Actually, the Vreds in 185HR15 (no aspect ratio, commonly called a ‘metric’ tire) would be an exact match. The 80 profile tires are very close but may actually be harder to find - the 185/15s are easily sourced.
