To Use Existing Parts in Rebuilding 70 4.2

Now that i have my engine appart I have to decide what parts can be recycled and which need to be macined or replaced. The odometer reads 98k so Im figuring a total rebuild of the head . But the cylinder bores dont look too bad. Not sure if it makes sense to even try and reuse the old piston or bite the bullit and hone and replace them .

Your engine machinist can tell you about the cylinders. After those miles the bores will be oval at the bottoms. Getting them back straight will require some boring. How bad they are worn will determine the rest. Buy pistons and rings once you find how much machining it takes.

Thats kind of what I was expecting but I have seen some people salvage engines with original parts in worse condition.
