Transmission fluid flush

Well, it took a few days and a few drives, but at least the gearbox won’t have chocolate colour fluid inside!

Nice job, just a bit of further info, how much fluid did you end up using?

Just over 7 litres. First flush was about 3.5l and then two more flushes of around two litres each.

Why would there be less fluid on the second and third drain/refill?

Would it ot make more sense to drive the car to get through all the gears? When stationary all you will get is 1st and reverse. Also, did you not drop the oil pan do clean the oil filter?

The car was driven between the flushes. On the video, I did say that it was a few weeks and several miles driven between the first flush and the last transmission level check.
Dropping the pan only gets rid of about 3.5 to 4 litres, meaning that more than 60% of the old fluid is still being held everywhere else inside the gearbox, in particular, the torque converter.
On a car that has followed the correct maintenance schedule, a drop of the pan and filter clean/change is enough, but as you saw, that process alone wouldn’t be enough for this car.
Filter will be changed in the next couple of weeks.

Veekay: I drained according to the amount of new fluid I had bought.

Oh. That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
