Trunk Boot struts

Thinking of changing my weak boot struts. Do the end sockets pieces simply unclip from the old strut and transfer to the new?

yes they do , you may have a problems getting the exact part , the ones I purchased last year are a little more powerful than the old, but do the job.

read your post again. and I am incorrect, the entire strut comes off the ball. Speed reading at eighty does not work.

No just slide the spring clip around and then the ball should just pop off, replace with new struts, I think you can just force the ball into the socket on the new ones w/o moving the clips.

My recollection from what i did a few years ago lines up with what Robin stated. Very easy job.

Rock Auto have a large selection in different strengths. I did trunk and hood a few years ago.

I bought mine off eBay for front and back as well. Very cheap.

I got a pair of trunk struts from Rock Auto, quite reasonable. Fitted one easily and found I really did not need the second one so put it into inventory.
