Your Mark V questions would be more visible on the Pre-XK Forum for the pushrod cars. I just saw these today, don’t look at the saloons forum as often as the pre-xk.
Here are the two types of Mark V brakes, from the Service Manual, which is available on CD-ROM.
The Fixed Pivot shoes have a pivot pin through them. Plate Z.
The Sliding Pivot are free to slide in the slots. Plate YZ.
Or you can look up the chassis number.
