Uprated/ replacing the rear suspension

Hi,

I’ve got a 1998 X308 3.2 Sovereign. The rear suspension needs to be done. I’ve got two questions: -

I’ve seen references on this site to a write up about the best way to drop the A frame to do this job in a far simpler way. Can anyone send me a link to the write up cos I can’t find it.

I want to stiffen the suspension. What do people use? I was thinking about putting the same suspension from the 3.2 Sport on. Is it a straight swap or will there be problems? What have others done?

Thanks,

Rod

The writeups by Jaguar BlackOnyx.net may be of help (http://jaguar.blackonyx.net). I have not personally followed the jobs described here, but I haven’t seen anything better describing replacement of shocks. (doesn’t cover springs as far as I know, though.)

Many people use XJR-spec shocks. Not sure if the springs were different. I have not attempted such a job, but I wouldn’t think there would be much of a problem as long as the original and replacement suspensions are the same type (CATS or non-CATS.) If in North America, most likely non-CATS.

This is how you do it on an X300, I believe your setup is the same.
