[v12-engine] 95 XJ12 6.0 Transmission Filter replacement question!

Hello Folks,

My car has now reached 60K, so I wanted to replace the transmission
filter, unfortunately I could not remove/lower the transmission
fluid pan! The two exhaust pipes are simply too close to the pan.
It appears that the only way to do this would be to remove the
exhaust! This of course would mean lots of hours under the car
trying to dismantle the rusty exhaust. I’m I missing some thing
here? your help would be highly appreciated.

My 1994 car had to have its exhaust removed to access the trans also.

A word of advice on this though, if your 95 has the same trans, which I
suspect it does, its a fairly standard GM truck transmission, and I just
took it down to the local shop. They dropped the trans , replaced all the
seals, filters and o rings etc, sealed it back up and reassembled
everything, basically a complete trans service for a measly $600. Certainly
worth every penny of not having to deal with rusted exhaust components and
waiting for liquid wrench to set etc.

Before my trans would leak regularly , sometimes several large puddles,
since the trans has been dry and behaved perfectly.

Its one area you can use a general shop, and not a Jag specialist.

If you have a ‘‘sawsall’’ you can cut the pipe in the area needed and
then acquire a couple of ‘‘Band’’ clamps to re-attach them.

This type of clamp allows you to butt the two pieces of pipe
together then secure them with the band clamp for a leak-free and
secure repair. No welding is required either.

You can find ‘‘Band’’ type clamps at most auto parts stores or order
them through Summit Racing or Borla.
