[v12-engine] Cold start issue fixed - almost

Folks

Thanks for all the feedback on this issue. The problem turned
out to be the ECU. Swapped out the 6CU for a reconditioned 16CU
and the car now started on the second or third attempt rather
than the twelfth or thirteenth. same problem as Aristides I
guess.

That said, I still need to prime the fuel rails a few times for
it to start reliably. This can wait for the next service where
we’ll replace the pressure regulators and see what happens.

A special thanks to the lads at Jag Prestige in Melbourne who
effectively lent me the ECU to simply return if it didn’t fix
the problem or pay for if it did. They wouldn’t even take a
deposit (nah, we trust you, they said…)–

Jag owners. As a rule, an honest bunch…

Hi Frogquartet,

Did you keep the old ECU? I ask as I had the same issue with an ECU in my 350SL and one of the guys at my work is a bit of an electronics boffin, and repaired it for me ( after I bought a replacement of course :slightly_frowning_face: )

However Im happy to see if he can do the same for yours and at least you can keep it on the shelf as a spare then…

Cheers, Jon

Most of these things are repairable, it’s usually down to dry solder joints
as they age, or resisters age…had the same thing happen to my Rover 3500SE
and had the ECU repaired by a bloke in Melb. but can’t remember who know ;o)
