I've owned my Colortune for about 15 years & a fine piece of kit it is but.... in my instructions it says that use of colortune is for observing flame colour and due to its physical nature may cause rough running (ie missfires). So... good for mixture diagnosis but not good for minor ignition problems.
Cheers,
Wilson Logan.
In my original posting I explained that the colourtune only alerted me to
the fact that i had a problem. After using the colour tune i used a spark
tester - you know the thing that looks like a pair of scissors, one leg is
put to earth , the spark lead connected to the other and the spark voltage
read off a scale between the legs. This means the spark plug is out of the
circuit. This confirmed what the colourtune had told me. I get a stream of
sparks at 25KV then a lull in the action.
This info has got snipped out of the reply message.
