[v12-engine] Distributors center excentric positioning

Hello all, I need some advice for my rebuild of the overhauled
distributor Lucas CEI-digital-P, with the right front cylinder 1A
in TDC? Somewhere, once I read a suggestion of altering it -10
BTDC so as to use the excentric fine-tune facility midways. Ie.
repositioning the dizzy’s base, so as to be able to adjust it in
both ways CW to retard, or CCW to advance more.
Has somebody some advice on how doing this correct? Since I can’t
recall myself, where I had read this, or from who’s website I found
this. Probably a great interest to many fellow listeners who are
yet too, onto the rebuild of the ignition system.

As always, much appreciated, regards,
Harry '87 European HE ever in progress…–

Harry,

Although mine is not the same ignition system you may have been
looking
at my write-up on positioning the dizzy. I prattle on a bit on the
issue.

Yes Ed, but can you please clear me up a bit how just to do this?
Or how you did it? I’m thinking of putting the dizzy in, with its
excentric adjuster midways, and one tooth of (did not yet try this).
But I’m wondering whether this will do it?
The 1A is in TDC (0). Hence my question, do I need first to put it
some -10BTDC, to assist to the 1 tooth of positioning?
I hope you can clarify me this, however I will be able to try this
probably next week.
Anyway, many thanx already for any helping advice, Harry.–

Harry,

I doubt that I could add anything useful at this point since it’s
been 2-3 years ago that I did the work. I just re-read that section
in my write-up and it seems pretty clear what I did… but then I
wrote it!
I did set the crank to 10 BTDC. I also discuss positioning the lower
section on the engine as an important step.

Maybe you could tell me what part of the write-up isn’t clear to you.
I might be able to clarify the wording if I know what was bothering
you.
