Hi Everyone
Does anyone have any information about my pistons please? Part
number EAC3056 1L in engine number 8s-16503HA
I would love to know if they were the original pistons. Strangely
Google can’t find it at all!
they look way too good for this engine, compared to the head and
eveything else.–

Dear Nick,
That’s quick work - I only left your place an hour ago!
I don’t know about the pistons, but…
The ‘‘H’’ in the engine number denotes ‘‘high compression’’
The engine number dates it between Nov80 and Jul81.
Roger Bywater states on his website that cars in the last year of
flat head production from mid 1980 onwards were 10:1
Perhaps an alternative strategy is to find what part number is on
the 9:1 and 7.8:1 pistons at that time or find out how big/deep
the ‘‘dish’’ is on the other pistons.

Thanks Marek
I am a fast worker!!
i dont understand why there is no reference to these pistons
anywhere! Every other part seems to be traceble.
I know the CR is 10:1 although I want to confirm that.–

Jaguar does not sell the pistons separate from the liners.
The piston and liner set is EAC3055. There is no parts
listing for a piston by itself. The parts catalogue show NSS
for the piston. The number stamped on it is the factory
number and not a service part.–

Does the service number mean anything that could identify whether
they are oem or different from other pre-he lumps?–

OH thats right you going twin turbo, shouldnt use even
factory pre-he pistons,10-1 ratio, only US spec 7.8s, UGH.
low comp.means turbo lag, hi comp reduces lag, but requires
good fuel!
but if you can buy American E85 fuel at a local pump
station, YES go with the 11-1 custom piston. you will be
amazed at the performance improvements, like response time.
and use the stock factory camshafts, very difficult to
improve them(for a nice smooth STREET engine)!
it seems as tho you should give this engine build some more
thought!–

better YET!! have a set of custom pistons made, maybe
cheaper than stock Jag, and more oriented to HI-performance
I do not think so. The number is not listed in the part
fiche.

Sadly no use at all to me! I want to drop CR to about 8:1 if
possible. My new turbos are huge and it would be good to run 20 psi
boost.
If I put HE heads on my pre-he engines with my pistons I should
really lower it.
WHAT DO YO GUYS THINK?–

You’re going to run intercoolers, right?

I was running 15 psi boost on the 2 smaller T25 turbos for sometime
now with no adverse issues. The only thing that went wrong with the
engine is the valve seals, and that was with a 10:1 CR, can went
like a rocket, but as it is only 1100kg it would do. vidoes all on
youtube!!
the intercoolers I had before were tiny, from a nissan 300sx
you plan on a Jag V12 to handle 20psi boost, for how long,5
seconds.
and with factory internals, that should be interesting!
but who am I to question it! go for it and let the forum
know results.
I dont know all ther is about turbocharging engines, but I
own three now! been modifing them since 1979.
I like the term ‘’ Allegedly’’ for intercooler.

These (EAC3056) pistons are high compression pistons manufactured for late flat head preHE engines with P-Digital system (mid 1980-1981) instead of DJetronic. Chassis number for these cars (VIN already introduced) is 104146 or later. Your car should have VIN ending in range 104146-105047.
Nick ditched the v12 and dropped an Audi v8 into the car after the car was shipped from the middle east back to the UK. (The shipper ran the car to use up the fuel in the fuel tanks and trashed the engine in the process.)
