V12 engine harness connectors

Hi,
I’m looking to rebuild the wiring harness for a 5.3l v12 engine. I have the old one as a guide but am wondering what are the best connectors. They look like a bosch part with clips. They’re called Delphi-Packard connectors from what I’ve been able to find. The wire is old and brittle so I’m doing this as an upgrade of sorts.

Joe,

I think the AC Delco Pro PT2164 connector will work. Another part number is GM 88861107. I looked at these a while back and thought they were correct but I never got any to test them out but harvested some decent used ones from some of my spare Jaguar engines and used them instead of getting new ones. If you search for “AC Delco PT2164” on eBay you will see some pictures of them. They might also be available at your local auto parts store, but I never checked there. The cost about $6-$10 each with shipping. This includes the connector with the pins and wires but you will have to get something for the protective boot. Maybe shrink tubing will work?

Hi Joe,

I think what you are looking for is commonly called a Bosch Fuel Injector connector or EV1 connector. It is actually an AMP connector (now owned by TE) called a “Junior Timer” connector. Normally comes in 2 way or 3 way versions.

They can be found here:
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/te-connectivity-amp-connectors/827551-3/A106202-ND/2054418

For $2.40 ea in 1 off. Note: That is just the housing. The trick with buying them “direct” is you probably need to buy the pins and seals as well. If you look at the bottom of the page in the link, you will find matching terminals for different wire diameter, as well as a boot ($4.50 ea!).

I have also bought bulk connectors from China on Ebay. Not sure if they are genuine, but you can get about 25-50 pieces for $20-$30 including terminals etc.

There is also an excellent web site that I found recently, with information and links to suppliers of specialised automotive harness parts including specialised shrinkwrap boots etc :

I can’t vouch for them, but their advice seems very sound.

Cheers

Hi Joe.
I bought this connectors, it is original part for harness.
I had problems with Junior Timer, the cut for injector was small.

I wish those OEM style connectors (above on orange background) were listed on the US eBay, but they aren’t.

I’ve looked very well and they are hard to locate in the US.

I found one listing on eBay for the correct type. http://m.ebay.com/itm/260797558361?_mwBanner=1

This company was very helpful. I ordered side release style connectors from them. I’ll let you know if they fit when they arrive.
