1984 XJ12…VDP in Canada. Manuals indicate a thermotine switch on the
thermostat housing of the passenger side of engine. No thermotine in
sight…where is it? Can it be there isn’t one?
And…terrible stumbling at idle and, during acceleration. Vacuum is a
bit low but seems OK, new dist. cap(old one blew up while jumping
battery). Temperature outside is -20C
Where’s the thermotine?

The thermotime switch disappeared at VIN 114474 (XJS) and VIN 377726 (XJ12)
along with the cold start injectors. (around Feb 1984).
And…terrible stumbling at idle and, during acceleration.
This is not related to the thermotime switch. This could be any of the
usual culprits, such as throttle potentiometer, blocked fuel filter, bad
ignition amplifier etc.
Is the misfire equal on both banks? is it worse with the engine hot or cold?

Mike
