[v12-engine] the V12 crank but not start

hello everyone!
I’m Marco from Rome
I have a Jag XJ12 1994 (xj40 model),
like from your old kind answer, I have found and changed the
crank sensor position but the motor, still don’t start.
I don’t know the V12 with the electronic components and
here, the components are many :frowning: that if, they want not to
make start engine, they can make it.
I know another sensor on flywheel but don’t know the
position.
However, I don’t believe to the sensors cause.
We have another idea?
Many thanks for help

Marco, I recently bought a Jag that wouldn’t start. It took
me a while to find the problem, but the first thing I did
was make sure that the coils were firing. If I were you, I
would pull one of the plug wires, and make sure that you are
getting fire.

I always remember what my grandfather taught me from a young
age. It take 3 things for a internal combustion engine to
run. Fire, fuel, and air. I know the V12 Jag looks (and is)
complicated, but it really still boils down to those 3
things. If the engine is getting fire to the plugs, check
fuel pressure. If has sufficient fuel pressure, it should
run. I doubt very seriously its the air.

The one thing I know for sure, is that you don’t want to go
changing parts ‘‘hoping’’ to find the problem. That can get
very expensive very fast. On my car, it took a while to find
the problem, but it wasn’t that expensive to fix. One sensor
is at the front of the engine, and the other is at the rear.
On mine, I did have a bad sensor, but moreso than that, it
had excessive clearance on both sensors. A simple digital
voltmeter will tell you if you have a bad sensor.

I don’t remember exactly, but I think you should have about
700 ohms resistance on each sensor. If it has that, you most
likely don’t have a bad sensor.–

I have a similar situation…well kinda…I am building a
special and using the 94 XJ12 engine and trans…I received
the engine bay engine harness with the big rubber grommet
that goes thru the firewall and into the passenger
compartment. As I do not have the fuel pumps from the
original car I have used a Jag Fi pump to get pressure for
the fuel…I fine unfortunately that the injectors are
not firing, could this be one of the crank front and rear
sensors that are toast…??As I am now in Kiwi land I
shall check when I get home and see if they have the
correct ressistance…700 did you say…

He there!!
the problem was on the two sockets of the coils, which I
pushed with my fingers and, as in a dream, the engine
start and run perfectly
Thanks everyone
