[v12-engine] Thermostat bolt size

Anyone know the bolt size for thermostat housing on the
right bank (the square fitting) I managed to drop one into
the darkests depths of the engine bay and cannot find it.
Tried compressed air, magnets, you name it. I’m hopeless at
imperial sizes, so any help would be welcome!
many thanks

I think it’s 1/4-28. It might make a difference what MY we’re
talking about, since things started changing to metric around 1984.

Ah, that might not help much Kirby.

Nohair is hopeless with Imperial sizes meaning he is possibly in a
metric country or a U.S. citizen believing anything made by Brits will
be imperial, he is more familiar with U.S. threads.

He might have more luck with it being called 1/4 UNC, and you can also
use 1/4 BSW which is still available at corner hardware stores in
thoroughly metric Australia. Alternatively it may be metric ( M6 ? )
on later cars.
There are 3 bolts and one nut for the housing.
The nut would perhaps be 1/4 UNF if not metric.

Any chance you remember the size of those bolts

Like Denchan said, pull one and take it to store to match it.
Or look up part at SNG or classicjaguarparts.
Model year might make a difference
