[v12-engine] V12 piston specs

Does anyone know the specs for Jaguar V12 pistons? I’m pretty sure
both the 5.3 H.E. and the 6.0 are flat-topped, so the “head”
measurement is zero on those. On the pre-H.E. what is the head
measurements of the bowls on the 7.8, the 9.0 and the 10.0? And what
are the pin heights on ALL these pistons? I have a feeling that the
pin height on the H.E. 5.3 piston is rather unusual.

Might not help as much as I hope, as the Silv-A-Lite listing doesn’t
provide those head specs the way the KB listing does, it just tells
you what engine they go in and what compression they’ll give you.

Kirbert.
Acording to Norman the 5.3 pin height is 1.560 the only variation
between the 7.8 and the 9.0-1 compression is the size of the bowl.
I’m reasonably certain that is correct because when I’v built
cheapo motors in the past that’s what I looked for was the size of
the bowl on the 7.8 it’s about 10 cc larger than on the 9.0
If you go to summit racing.com click on engines, then pistons you
can get the exact specs such as pin height etc. for silvo-lite
pistons as well as a dozen other companies… Then click on details
once you select a particular piston and all the details are sorted
for you…
You can also have the computer sort it out by pin heights or bore
or pin size etc… (or any and all all of the critical demensions
you are looking for)… Bottom line, if we’re going to buy cheap
pistons it’s going to be am custom order.
That’s about $60-70 each retail. (includes pin but not rings)
If there is sufficent interest and we’re willing to wait untill
fallI likely can get a rather deep discount off of that using my
Tax number and bulk buying…
You can either use the compression calculator on that web site or
go to Race cars.net and select engine size and compression
calculator…–

Kirbert.
Assume you can buy a set of 8 pistons for as low as $200 enough
pistons to do your engine will cost you $400. (price of individual
pistons is much higher the set’s, usually more than 2 times so it’s
cheeaper to buy 2 sets.
You will spend an additional $600 (est) in machine work getting
those pistons to be right.
Ask, I’ll walk you though the costs involved… No none of it is
optional.
For that $1000 you get the cheapest parts made… adapted.
Or you can spend less on forged properly made pistons that won’t
require custom liners to be made…–
