Vibration damper woodruff keyway relation to COMP marking

Would anyone know the relation of the Woodruff keyway on the vibration damper to the COMP marking or to the TDC?

I have disassembled my Vibration damper for my XK120 & my e-type and unfortunately I have not marked the relation between the outer ring to the inner one.

I would like to rebuild it now, but cannot do it without knowing how it’s assembled.

My memory is possibly playing tricks but I thought… both the crank and cone that the damper mounts onto are keyed?

Right, but the 2 parts of the damper, which are separated by rubber are of course not.

I have cut the rubber, cleaned it, and it’s ready for rebonding, the question is just where should it be rebonded…

You could put engine to TDC, no 6 , front piston at top of compression stroke , then fit the 2 parts to the damper and mark them !

Ah. Ok didn’t see that. My initial thought is to set the engine to rev then temp fit every thing. Mark the damper where it needs to be then etc etc etc

I could, but my engine is seized and not rebuild yet… :frowning:
